Thirty years of behavior work. One practical problem that needed a better solution.
I'm Kass Goulding, owner and operator of Pacesetter Training Kennel since 1994. For over 30 years I've worked with dogs with behavior issues of every kind — including the ones that show up every storm season and every Fourth of July: dogs with noise phobias.
SoundEase was developed to help my own client dogs with sound sensitivity. The method behind it — desensitization — is proven and evidence-based: play a dog's trigger sound at a barely-audible level and raise it gradually, session by session, while the dog stays relaxed, until the fear response fades. What the method never had was a practical delivery system. CDs skipped and looped with gaps. Streaming playlists couldn't hold a precise starting volume or ramp on a schedule. So we built one: real recordings from professional audio libraries, a controlled ramp that can start as low as 2% volume, timed sessions, and the ability to record a dog's specific trigger.
It proved so effective for client dogs that we decided to share the program — with dog owners working at home, breeders conditioning litters during the socialization window, trainers and kennels, and veterinary practices that see noise phobia every day.
